Beginning Monday, March 30, 2020

Odyssey Charter Jr/Sr High School will be using the following online components for our Instructional Continuity Plan:

1. FOCUS to access Online Learning assignments
2. FOCUS and BLACKBOARD to communicate with students/parents/guardians
3. FOCUS to continue with grading
4. ZOOM online lessons for direct instruction
5. Online resources such as i-Ready, Study Island, Discovery, Renzulli, Algebra Nation, and Springboard will continue to be accessible to students, parents/guardians, and teachers for instructional purposes



Procedures for Daily Check-In and Weekly Assignments for Students

Each day, students from Odyssey Charter Jr/Sr High School should do the following:

1. Beginning Monday, March 30, students will check-in for attendance by signing into a DAILY ATTENDANCE LINK posted on FOCUS. Please log in daily and complete the DAILY Attendance Link at https://tinyurl.com/sgaukwm.

2. Students should check student assignments in Focus daily. 

    • Classroom teachers will post their assignments for the week by Monday at 8:00 a.m.
    • Classroom assignments will be turned in by the parent via email to the classroom teacher once per week (on Friday only) by 5:00 p.m.
    • For questions on assignments, please email classroom teachers directly. Teachers’ email addresses are available on the school’s website at www.odysseycharterschool.com
    • Teachers are available to respond to emails during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.




Daily Instructional Schedule

Beginning Monday, March 30, 2020, teachers will be available online by subject area for Instructional Support Hours during the times below:

11:00 am - 12:00 pm Science (6-11th) Math (Grades 6-8), Algebra, Geometry, Pre Cal, Trig Gifted, Computer Programming (6-12th), Digital Art, PE (6-8th)
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm AP ELA, 11/12 ELA Connelly, 10th ELA AP Chem, AP Stat, Algebra II PE (9-12), Fine and Performing Arts (6-12th)





Student Schedule Grades 6-8 Grade – 5 hours+


1. 3 hours of Zoom Lessons, by course daily
2. 15 minutes of i-Ready Reading daily
3. 15 minutes of i-Ready Math or 15 minutes of Algebra Nation (for Algebra/Geometry students) daily
4. 15 minutes of Reading (novel, if available) daily
5. 1-2 hours of online assignments from FOCUS (15-20 minutes per subject area daily)
6. Complete online courses on FLVS or Edmentum, if enrolled
7. Fridays are set aside for work completion. All assignments are due by Friday at 5:00 p.m. each week.




Student Schedule Grades 9-12 Grade – 5 hours+


1. 3 hours of Zoom lessons, by course daily
2. 15 minutes of Algebra Nation (for Algebra/Geometry students) or 15 minutes of Khan Academy (for Precalculus, Trigonometry, and Algebra II) daily
3. 15 minutes of independent reading (novel, if available) daily
4. 1-2 hours of online Assignments from FOCUS (15-20 minutes per subject area daily)
5. Complete online courses on FLVS or Edmentum, if enrolled
6. Fridays are set aside for work completion. All assignments are due by Friday at 5:00 p.m. each week.

Students will participate in daily Zoom online lessons using the schedule below. Zoom links will be provided by teachers in lessons posted on FOCUS. Step-by-step directions on how to use Zoom can be found in the Using Zoom Information Sheet.




Grading Procedures

Week 1: March 23-27: This week was used to orient everyone to the online learning format. All assignments will be considered extra credit this week. Students unable to participate will be exempt from assignments for this week only.

Week 2 and beyond, beginning March 30: Established grading procedures apply.





Student Services

1. Counselors will be available during the school day via email to provide support. They will also continue with any previously made appointments via conference call. The counselors/social workers will share the conference line via email with those students who are scheduled to meet with them.

2. ESE and ESOL teachers will communicate with parents to ensure appropriate support and services are provided for students. ESE and ESOL teachers will provide direct support to students to ensure that assignments can be completed successfully. They will also continue to provide IEP services through Zoom online meetings.

3. Speech services will continue weekly. Speech teachers will reach out to schedule Zoom online sessions with the student to provide services.
